TURNKEY GM 604 Crate Dirt LM for Kids!
$4,500 Less Trailer, Motor, Trans. D/S & S/W.
View Extra Large Photos
$16,500.00
TRAILER: Price includes $3500.00 for a street legal, Titled, Inspected and Licensed, Dove-tailed Custom open tag Trailer (some States (like NC) can be funny about Out-Of-State racecar trailers). Trailer equipped w/two row Tire Rack, Electric winch, 5000KW Generator, 4X8 heavy aluminum diamond plate viewing platform (perfect for hauling extra racecar front bumper/nose)over larger enclosed box and loading ramps. Good Wide-5 load tire and like new Trailer spare. Less than 1,200 miles on new 4 brake axles and ST Tires ( ... will sell the car without the trailer, but not the trailer without the car).

This car was specifically built for: young /small / new to Dirt Late Model racing drivers. NOT novice racers. Months of trial and error went into design and testing of components to see what works and what doesn't. Driver safety and comfort came first, then the focus was devoted towards making a car that would handle well under all track conditions no matter what size track the car is on or what the racing surface is like.

Unlike most cars with conventional 4-bar suspension designs, this car is not a - 90% car 10% driver - deal. The car will not lock down on the track but you don't need to have the best motor out there in order to overcome that either. The car has to be driven to get the most out of it. This car is closer to a - 50% car 50% driver- deal. Just like back in the old STARS days and early Hav-A-Tampa days, a driver has to be good to get the most out of this equipment. There is a trade-off here. The car is sturdy and easy to maintain at the track. The technology will not send you to the poor house either, but the driver will be forced into becoming precise and smooth if he/she wants to go fast.

Once this car is set-up (and it's set-up now), the ONLY adjustments that might be required on race day are at the right front coil-over (+/- two turns), tire stagger/air pressure and quick-change gear. No fancy shocks or spring changes to worry about. No J-Bar, lift-bar or 4-bar adjustments to fuss with. Asphalt or dirt, big track or little track, heavy track or dry-slick ... makes no difference. This is truly a "driver's car" and the perfect platform for a young driver to get the hang of Dirt LM racing with.

COCKPIT & SAFETY FEATURES: Fuel-Safe (NASCAR Type) soft Kevlar bladder 22 gal. fuel cell in steel can protected by 1" sq. tubing fuel cell cage. Fully gusseted door bars. Corner braced Halo bar. Sprint-type window net. Carbon Fiber drive shaft. Steel reinforced tub to protect the driver's elbo/arm from exploding driveshaft components. Remote 10 LB Fire Bottle with all nozzles pointed at driver and release handle. Front to rear fully adjustable Brake, Clutch and Gas Pedal Assembly (a small 11 yr old kid can hot lap/race this car safely and comfortably.... and did). Two different size LaJoie full containment seats w/raised floor mounts, floor panels and leg side-support braces (one small size and one .... smaller size).

CHASSIS & SUSPENTION : Denso Beige powder-coated chrome-molly frame. Flex-A-Form Composite Parabolic Mono-Leaf Rear Suspension (No rear coil-overs) on Aluminum Pro Shocks. KRC Power Steering kit w/serpentine belt pulley system. Rapture Racing Carb under Cold-Air box mounted on lightweight aluminum 1" spacer. K+N air filter & breather top. Outerwears Oil Pre-Filters.

BODY: All White CVR Body w/drop deck, roof supports, Lexan windscreen, two complete front ends w/bumpers and Monte Carlo molded nose & fenders. Dzus fasteners on Right & Left doors (for easy frame pressure washing) Blind-Nut Bolted F-Fender Quarters (for positive fit). Cowl-Induction Hood (keeps positive low air pressure to cold-air box while also keeping the breather mud-free). Remote battery charging terminals on rear deck. Open rear quarter windows. Both FASTRAK and StormPay rear spoilers with approved template cut side supports.

There might be newer or cheaper DLM cars for sale out there, but you won't find a safer or better built Dirt LM for a small/young person to learn how to drive in anywhere. We're selling this as an "entry level" car for a young driver ... but that doesn't mean it's a toy. The asking price is less than 1/2 of what the car cost to build. Our loss is your gain but the price is fair. If you'd like to get your young driver some early seat time, know anything about race cars and can do the math, you'll recognize this car as a great deal.

Question:

yeah from the fan to the flywheel oilpan to the carb. how much.thanks James

Answer:

Hello James: As you probably know, Harry T ran a steel head motor at Atomic back in 2004-2005. The last engine we had in the car back in '05 was totally re-built by Scott Pass while he was at U-Create in 2006. It's a much better engine now than when Harry T ran it (Bow-Tie heads, JE Pistons, Lunadi 50 LB. Crank, Victor Jr., 5.7 OLIVER Billet I-Beam Rods, .30 over 4 bolt steel spayed cap .010 Block w/water restrictors. Lifter valley sceened and tubed. Drilled and plugged for the single stage external pump or dry sump option). When we decide to run crates, the engine was loaned to a friend for the 2007 Season at Corbin. He won virtually every race in the Vintage Modified Div (rear trans seal went out while leading the last race of the year). The class has a 380 CID rule and that's about it. This little motor spanked some really high dollar motors all season long. After his 3rd win he had to start each race from 7th Place. I have a little over 11K in the engine but it also has 14 races on it now. Corbin is a short track so I figure the engine is about half-way to it's first refreshing job. This motor is also For Sale so that's why I wouldn't mind selling the 604 Crate motor. If I was going to use the motor, I'd probably do a legal valve job for 411 or The Mountain, check the bottom end and maybe change the cam (the one in it now is specifically designed for a 1/4-3/8 Mile oval). OK, here's the deal. The 604 crate Motor in Harry T's car is the second one we've had in the car. I bought it new and it only has about 10 races on it. It's been EXTREMELY well cared for, never had any "funny gas" run through it and always had either a #6700 or #6800 chip depending on the track and gear we ran. We've always kept the engine tuned "by the book" and never had any of the overheating problems other crate engines seem to develop. Harry T's best finishes were a 4th place at Tazwell and 7th Place at Wythville (and this was with a 15 yr old kid in a leaf-spring car). I bought our first 604 Crate engine used with the best belt system, intake plumbing, Water pump, Power Steering pump, fuel pump, MSD Distributor, flywheel and high dollar Raptor carb for $6,500. They kept the Tri-Y Headers and spacer plate (which weren't legal anyway, so that didn't make a whole lot of difference to me). Although it had a dyno sheet that said it made 420 HP ..... the engine had some problems from the get-go and never did run right. After I bought the engine, I learned that it had been taken out of a car that had flipped. I think the steel crank had been bent or cracked during the wreck (not that uncommon for a GM Steel crank in a car that rolls). I also know that the team I bought the first engine from had a front running car but also used some questionable tuning practices that caused their next engine to self-destruct before the season was over. The point I'm trying to make here is that it's anybody's guess when you buy a used engine (I found out the hard way). It's always best to know the background of a used engine BEFORE you buy it. Harry T has been offered a chance to test with a GRAND-AM Team this year and that's why we're selling the circle track stuff ... NOT because it's "junk". Bottom line: Both of the engines I have are extremely good engines and I'd sell either one for $5,500.00 (complete and running with all of the add-ons)plus whatever it costs to have someone do the swap.
