2016 Ridler Award Winner

feature

Detroit Autorama has had another successful year with another great ride taking home the Ridler Award. Billy Thomas of Georgetown, Texas grabbed the award with his 1939 Oldsmobile Convertible. While every contender this year was impeccable, as always, Thomas’ ride rose up to the challenge and grabbed attention of all the right people.

While this beauty is called a 1939 Oldsmobile, the body is all handbuilt and styling cues were taken from a ’39 Oldsmobile Convertible Model 60. The body sits on an Art Morrison Enterprise chassis and the car is powered by a 455-inch Olds that features a Wilson Racing one-off intake topped with Don Cherry EFI and valve covers.

Congratulations to Billy Thomas on this wonderful recognition!
