The Ford GT Shakedown has Blue Oval Fans Giddy with Excitement

June of 1966 marked the first time an American manufacturer won the 24 Hours of Le Mans. With its massive 7.0L v-8, the Ford Gt40 howled through the Circuit de la Sarthe finishing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.  When Ford revealed the new Ford GT at Detroit people automatically jumped to assume a return to Le Mans; they were right. Obviously when transforming a production car into a race car there needs to be intense testing or shakedowns. These shakedowns are crucial for Ford engineers to dial in their race car,  every inch of the GT  is under a microscope. So when things go according to plan, only then were the engineers allowed to breath.
