Lucas Oil sponsors two NHRA drag racing series, the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Regional Series and the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series (LODRS). There are four regions in the series: East North Central, West, and Central.  The East (1) and North Central Regions (2) have events during the month of May. There are seven regions in the Divisional Series: Pacific, West Central, South Central, Northwest, North Central, Southeast, and Northeast. All seven series have events happening in May and there’s also a special event on the last weekend of the month. Starting with the Regional Series, let’s take a look at these upcoming events.

East Region

The East Region of the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Regional has the Showdown at Sundown at Maple Grove Raceway in Reading, Pennsylvania over the weekend of the 21st through the 24th (the 25th if rained out). Gates open at 7:30 AM on Thursday and Friday and NHRA inspections run from 10 AM until 4 PM. On Saturday and Sunday the gates open at eight. On Saturday, inspections begin at 8. The Northeast Division of the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series will also join in this weekend’s festivities.

North Central Region

The North Central Region has events on the weekends of the first through and 15 through 17 of May. The Spring Spectacle of Speed kicks off on Thursday, April 30th and runs through Sunday, May 3rd at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis. Gates open on Thursday for the Spring Spectacle of Speed at 9 AM and at 7 the rest of the weekend.

The Mickey Mart Rewards Cavalcade of Stars is more than just a full weekend of drag racing, it’s a party with Friday and Saturday nights wrapping up with fireworks spectacles that rival many town celebrations on Independence Day. Summit Motorsports Park is one of the few NHRA venues where your general admission ticket also gains you access to the pits all three days.
