A Pony with the Bite of a Snake: 2015 King Cobra

Good news, if the 435HP of your 2015 Mustang GT just isn’t enough, Ford Racing has unveiled a solution: Another 165 horses to give that pony the real power she needs. Last week at SEMA we got a look at just the exterior, but it’s what’s underneath that we’re interested in.

With the 600+HP from the King Cobra package, almost two seconds are knocked off the quarter-mile time to 10.97. Spend a few pennies and the kit gets you the Drag, Handling, and Super Packs.

The Drag Pack swaps out half shafts for heavy duty ones, includes a rear subframe kit and high performance bushings, allowing the King Cobra to dig in on hard acceleration and increasing control.

With the Handling Pack come lower springs, bringing the car and its center of gravity down about an inch; the front springs are on pre-assembled struts. Rear shocks and stabilizer bar kit are also included.

The hot Super Pack includes a 2.3L belt-driven supercharger, co-designed with ROUSH, fuel rail and high flow injectors, electronic throttle body, air inlet system, air-to-liquid intercooling system, topped off with a computer calibration.

It’s only been a week since the reveal, with no price released yet, but Ford is just dangling those parts in front of us. King Cobra has a long association with high performance vehicles and this one should be no exception.
