Day 4 of the 2014 Hot Rod Power Tour had us visiting the legendary Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio for a full day of drag racing and swapping stories. It was an overcast day with intermittent rain so we asked our very own Jim Sweener to spin our AED Competition Fuel Systems Chevy Truck Giveaway sign to liven up the mood. Yes, we are multi-talented here at Racing Junk.
The drive up to Norwalk was interesting to say the least. We went through some quaint towns and ran into a bit of traffic on the local roads. Here’s a video of our run-in with some low horsepower cars:
The sun never really came out at Summit Motorsports Park, but thankfully Veronica Jensen, Miss Painless Performance 2014, was here to brighten our day with her smile. A former Miss Hot Rod, Veronica designs her own posters as well as the race-inspired outfits she wears. You can follow her adventures as Miss Painless Performance on Facebook.
Continental Tire’s C7 Corvette is my favorite car of the day because it’s actually wearing a layer of Line-X protective coating which gives it a matte, orange peel texture. This is one car that isn’t afraid of rock chips, harsh weather or door dings.
Free fun runs took place all day, making for great ambient noise as all different types of cars went down the drag strip. All eight staging lanes were packed solid and we got to see some wacky match-ups and some surprising upsets.
When you’re on the Power Tour, the adventures continue on long after the day’s official event. Today’s adventure involves our hotel room, which is part of an indoor water park that is closed because it’s not water park season. Isn’t the entire reason for having an indoor water park so that you don’t have to worry about seasons? The fun doesn’t stop there. We get into our rooms only to discover that there are bunk beds! The six year old kid inside all of us is jumping for joy.
We’re off to Crown Point, Indiana tomorrow!
