Default buying another car

i'm looking at a 1998 camaro with 160,000 miles, only a v6 though. The guy says it'll pass DE inspection fine, but says when you put it in gear adn make a full stop it acts like its in neutral, as he describes it, he says it needs a torque converter or something electrical. He's asking $1000, but I'm not sure if it's worth getting since it's only a v6 and has the problem, any ideas on what the problem sounds like? [/i]

It sounds like something is going bad in the drivetrain, and at 160K miles, that's to be expected. Unless you can do the work yourself, it's going to be a costly repair. Plus, it doesn't sound like it's the car you want anyways. Keep on looking, there's something out there that take your eye.
