Manual Tranny suggestion for 68 Camaro with 750hp
Good evening all,
I'm looking for suggestions from all of you who have manual tranny experience. I'm looking to build a 68 Camaro that will host up to a 750hp powerplant. I'd like to get your opinions on a manual transmission that is able to handle such high HP output AND has a 5th or 6th gear overdrive.
Any suggestions?

It will make a lot of difference as to how you want to use the car. Will it be used only/mostly on the track or street? Regardless post this on http://www.umtrnorth.com/forums . You will get a lot more info on manual trannys on that site than anywhere else. You will have to be a logged in member to access the site.

Thanks GearHead...
The 68 will be built up into a ProStreet styled street shredder. I have no interest in drag racing. I have a HUGE interest in closed course styled street racing. So the tranny is going to have to be able to handle lots of shifting to include both up-shifts for acceleration AND down-shifts to aid in deceleration and keeping the RPM's up.
Any recommendations would be helpful. Thank you.

It sounds like you will need a synchronized street tranny. I'm more familiar with the drag racing type and not real "up" on road racing trannys. I believe Richmond and G-force produce a transmission that should do the trick. I don't know if either of them make a street box that will handle 750 hp but if you're not running slicks at a drag strip you will probably spin the tires before you apply enough torque to break one of them.
