    1995 Impala SS 350 LT1

    I have a 1995 impala ss, wanting to do some upgrades to but would like some input from the guys on here before I jump the gun. I am already planning on a 411 gear and 2800 stall converter in the 4L60e. All the specs I find on the LT1 impala engines says that its a 10.2:1 motor, that redline is 5800 rpm. I have already got an edelbrock air gap intake 1500-6500 rpm. Anybody recommend a good cam? I was thinking of a LT4 cam .525/.525 lift with 112 lobe centerline, duration at .50 218/228. I cannot find the rpm range on this cam no where. My other choice of cam is a 507/510 lift, 110 centerline, 284/296 duration, comp cams extreme energy, I had this same cam in my monte and it was very impressive. Any ideas or recommendations for the build? It will be a street car that will see occasional track time but mostly on the weekends around town.

    i've got the same cam in my s10. good street/strip. works good with the air gap. power range is the same as the intake. i think the two were made for each other. for the street, use a 650 carb and you should have good response.

    I would suggest you get on one of the LT specility forums like LTXtech.com, or Camaroz28.com, on those forums you'll find the very best LT gurus in the country.

    The LT engine is an animal of its own! Therefore, it requires some very specialized performance techniques to make it fly. Not exactly the same as any old SBC engine.

    PS: I'm one of those LTX gurus. I set a N/A MPH record (126.9 PMH) at the 2009 LTX shoot-out with my 1997 LTX Z28 Camaro. Also, my Z28 runs 10.80s N/A.     You may want to check with Lloyd Elliot at the link below about one of his head and cam performance packages for your LT engine. Additionally, I believe your Impala LT engine will have iron heads, so you may want to upgrade to some of the GM aluminum LT heads.

    Anyway, Lloyd is a really great guy and will give you some good advice on performance upgrades for your LT engine.
