Default bbc main stud girdle for a 2 bolt main?

I was wondering if any body is using a stud girdle for a 2 bolt main bbc and when it,s needed? or will it help,i'm building a 511 bbc 2 bolt and was wondering if i need to add this or will it be ok with just arp studs? engine should be around 800 hp. also the kits have 5140 studs are they as good as arp or no good they don,t offer better studs with these kit's.

Never seen a girdle on a BBC. Does someone actually make one?

I ran a mild blower application a long time ago with a .030 over 454, steel crank, 2 bolt main, with 3/8" rods even. It made around 800-900 HP.

Kept the RPM's below 7K and never had any issues. Bearings always looked good.

Spend your money and make sure the line hone is correct, and save it on the girdle (if they even make one).

I bought one for my bbc 496.
really good look piece, but I had a helluva time finding a oil pan that would clear it.
I ended up having to do allot of modifying to make it fit.
big time headache.
I found mine on ebay, came with studs and all necessary mounting hardware. >Cp

4 bolt main caps are easy to find and fairly cheap. I would find a set and have the block converted if you have very much motor.

I asked Kenny from http://pro-gram.com/ about girdles at the Pri Show last Dec. and he said they really do nothing to strenthen the webbing of the block or the make the main caps stronger.

LOL....sure guirldes dont add strength and stability, take one off a high horse power small block ford and see how fast it splits the block in half.
I bet all them guirdles everyone runs on their rocker arms arent doing $hit either.
