If it is a new block should have the line hone checked on it. I have a Merlin II block also. When i got it 10yrs ago the shop did the basic stuff on and the mains were TQed at 100lbs. Last season i had some other stuff done at the same shop and the tq when they were done this time was 90lbs. But if you are not having any work done like checking the main bearing oil clearanceing and line hone , I would tq them to 110lbs which is a factory tq spec.

The block was new when i bought it last year, was line honed and i was told to torque the bolts to 85. Just sounds to low so i put them at 105. Does this sound alright?
Thanks for the info.

What type of lube did you use on the threads? Moly or conventional motor oil?>
You go less 85, 95 with moly lube, but more with just motor oil, 100, 110. Your torque of 105 should be fine with oil, 5 foot pounds will not make or break you.
