Default just ordered new APD CARB

After 2 weeks of some serious thinking and BRAIN PICKING..i have decided to go with a brand NEW APD alcohol carb with external linkage.

i called and spoke with John at APD this morning before and after i placed the order and he was very helpful and gave me much insight to their carbs.

i gave him my engine set up and he is building me a custom 1150 Alcohol carb that is cut down for the smaller ci motors...i tried to corner him up on how much he thinks it would help me but he didn't want to go there ( sign of honest salesman/techman)...he did say that the heavier the car and smaller the motor they see more benefit from their alcohol carbs....( i did get a number out of him but i will keep that secret until i hear some other opinions)
so i will get this carb middle part of next week....

for the record i did look at used carbs in the classifieds..most stuff was coming in around $800.00 plus shipping and didn't have the features i wanted such as external linkage etc....so rather than spend $800.00 on something i am not 100% sold on i decided to spend the extra $450.00 and get what i wanted and what i know will work...

the 454 "r" intake will be in tommorrow...after some port matching..i am placing this on with the new alcohol carb and swaping to alcohol..its still in high 70's low 80's down here in the South so the alcohol should be good..plus i still got my 1050 braswell gas dominater..i can flip flop back and forth if need be....

ok...i had ran 5.99 @114 with a 1.32 60ft on my old set up...1050 gas dominater with a team "g' intake..

ANYONE CARE TO GUESS HOW MUCH I WILL PICK UP ?

Thanks
Brian

Since you're leaving the line at 4000 rpms I will revise my earlier numbers and say a 5.75 @ 119 with a 1.30 60'. Optimistic eh? Well, it'll give you something to shoot for!

Brian I think your on the rite path . Once its tuned & dialed in hopefully it should run between a 5.76 & 5.79 If ya throw caution to the wind & drive it like you stole it you will get that Camaro into the bottom 5.70s someday Soon.
Good Luck

5.68 @118.
Leave at 4500 rpm.
That's my opinion Brian.

wow i hope its between what you and george are calling..

John at APD said he feels 2/10th is conservative..different set ups respond differently....if i can touch the 5.80's on motor in this car i will be tickled...i hit the 5.60's and i will have to take a heart pill...LOL 8)

WE SHALL SEE !...BETS ARE LOCKED IN
