If it is dirt cheap. Go for it.

Too many things about that ad just don't sound right.

No certain product brands or descriptions.

Cahnces are likely that by the sound of the ad, they just might not own any CNC equipment, and if they do it seems strange to tie it up doing menial tasks like boring blocks.

Frankly like I said, if it is cheap how can you go worng even if you have to pull it apart and verify the clearances.

To me it looks like the ad is worded by someone who has no clue and I doubt that engine will come close to 500 hp. PAW did a 406 and it did just a little over 425 hp years ago for a crate motor. Who knows maybe those cylinder heads will mke it step up and run a number but I doubt it.

You have no promises of anything except what head brand is used. Everything else is called Heavy Duty, CNC, Premium, Custom, Forged 4340, Hi-Flow, I do see they are claiming JE 2618 pistons. Sonuds odd to me. Most would be using the SRP/JE pistons which are not flat top in a 2618 version.

The description of their block filler is a turn off too. Hard Block or Moroso only. No grout. no concrete.

Sorry,
You asked for an opinion.

I'm with ED, on this one.
You don't say how big the engine is, but why would they even put block filler in the motor at all.
Also theres too many variables on what parts are used, and you aslo didn't say what the price is. You can buy those parts for less than $3,000.00, but you wouldn't be getting good quality parts, like you can buy 4340 rods for less than $300.00 or you can pay $600.00 for good quality rods.

You can buy a custom stroke crank for 299.00 too

It sounds like a big dissapointment to me as well as junk

You got a link to the add for the engine?

Sounds like an ebay ad I have seen.

If you are looking for an engine, place a wanted classified out on RJ classifieds, I think you can do better.

Besides there are some awesome builders right here in this forum.

It was on Ebay. It was a SBC 427 and went for $3200, of course that wouldnt have included shipping. I didnt bid becuase i could not get a response from the seller of any of my questions. That dont mean anything though as its labor day and alot of people arent around.

Here is a link to it:

I think you did good to let that pass by,

An engine of that caliber would cost upwards of 8,000 from carb to pan,but you definatly will have a real nice engine.

Don't be fooled by the low prices,it just might cost you double and then some.

Read the user feedback part of the site,I'd also reccomend asking us here if you find some thing that interests you.It might save you some grief and money.Beware who you give your hard earned money to.

And yes there are some good builders here on the site that have built combos like what you are looking for.

Well that is a cheap price. Maybe at 427 cu in it might make that 500 hp who knows.

I notice he takes lay=awake paments. Seems like that is mostly what I end up doing too. Well if he is suing enough of a stroke to get that 427 cu in he muct be using sime kind of an aftermarket crank and rods. Maybe he is buying up the defect Import stuff that Eagle, and the others put on sale.

I can't do a 427 even using Eagle for that in parts cost.

Hmm'

It's your money but i wouldn't touch it, the carnk is probably a 5140 crank. You really can't buy good Chinese parts for that price, and know that they meet specs. Again i'm not knocking the builder, but he's going to build the motor on your money, after you pay him and maybe it will be delivered in 2 wks. but maybe in 6 weeks. Again it's your money and i think you have had some good advice here.
