comparing the bowtie andmerlin block
merlin 3 10.2 tall deck with regular staight main caps and the bowtie in question has 10.2 deck with straight main caps also without the valley head bolt bosses. Not counting the valley bosses, is one as good as the other when used in a 1000hp engine and nitrous on top of that.?

I have a strong personal distaste for World Products but the Merlin 3 is a pretty beefy block and would be my preference over the two asked about. The BowTie 5 or 6 would be my preference over a Merlin 2 block though.
I prefer the Dart Big M over all the above though.

I agree with Robert if budget to buy a new block is an issue.
The factory BB Chevy block is actually very strong and when properly prepped should handle upwards of 1,200 - 1,400 horsepower if you do not detonate it hard.
