Is there a reason they must say Pontiac on them? are you limited to 23 deg heads and can you use raised runner? Bill

no not at all, i was just curious, someone recommended 23 degree pontiac heads, i was told that a certain set flowed 340 out of the box, i didn't really want to fool with any degree heads (18,15,12) right now but i might have to go that way. I was also told to check out the sb2.2, i wanted to put the heads on a jay dickens chevy 434 that i drag race.

If the short block is already built, you better buy heads that will work with those pistons.

I agree,if you already have pistons your stuck with whatever head will work with them. if you don't already have pistons and don't mind buying a new cam and headers the sb2.2 with the correct head will produce over 900 H.P. in a drag race application on motor with your size engine.most any of the 12-13-14 heads that are ported correctly will get you high seven hundred, low 800 range.I don't think any of the 23 deg stuff will exceed the low seven hundred range.Bill

I agree completely, but will also include the words of when used in an engine designed and put together by a good builder. IT does take more than just the right parts.

actually its the whole motor that jay dickens built, right now it has track 1 brodixs on them with flat top pistons (12.5:1) it dynoed at 625hp but i wanted to step it up a bit, i don't care about changing pistons and cam, right now it has an 673/632 roller in it with 1.5/1.6 shaft rockers. i just want to upgrade, im tired of shooting a 400 shot of nitrous everytime i run.
