Opinions on egts

I would like to no what are your opinions on tuning using a Percy's egt system? Pros and cons. Two weeks ago I used one for the first time on a 477 bbc with a pro systems 1050 dominator and the car ran in the 5.90s all night but the egts where around 1370 In the 1/8. Jets are 88 on all 4 corners. This week I tried jetting up to 94s and the temp went down to 1350 but the car slowed to 6.00 and mph went down from 116.24 to 115.60. I no that these are used more for reference but I would like to no what you guys think am I putting to much stock in this? I talked to Patrick and he said Jet up until mph starts to slow down but the temp still worries me.I an running Torco 110 racing gas. Thanks Mike

The thing you need to remember with a EGT is they are all different. The best advice I can give you is find where your car runs and repeats the best and remember that EGT. Its a baseline deal

Temps

This is just a guide to use. Unless you are checking every exh. port which is a good thing for NOS use. You could be checking the port with the most, or least temp. When using these EGTs it is best to watch your 2 hottest ports 1 on each bank. How many probes do you have in the headers?

Which this info would be taken from the dyno. It is very hard to say what you are watching is real accurate for your application. Patrick is correct, jet it up till it slows. The temps you are seeing is pretty normal.

GOOD LUCK
