BBC heads
I have posted about head recomendation before..but I am getting ready to purchase something...but I still don't know which ones to get. I have it narrowed to either -2x brodix with 340 cc intake ports or the AFR but can't decide between 325 and the 345. Motor is a 13.1 540 with a solid roller .726 int .737 exh dur at 50 around 274 int 284 exh ..can't remember exactly don't have card with me...but the question is "What size intake ports would be best for a 540 ci 7000 rpm max? " The prices are the same for 325 or 345. They sell a cnc ported 335 also and a 357 for much more money. I want to get the right ones but don't want to go too big. Again this is a 7000 rpm motor. Car is 3050 lb 1/8 mile bracket car with powerglide with brake. 5.14 gears and 32 x 14 tires. 5500 converter

my personal opinion, get the AFR's but skip the 345's and get the 357's. they are a great head. I ran them for years trouble free and awesome power out of the box. They had better power than a set of 355 cnc darts that I had before them. I had my heads on a 572. a friend of mine runs them on a 555 bbc and had the motor dynoed at 945 hp at 7600 rpm with a single carb. You won't be disapointed.

Thanks...my only concern was the rpm range. I don't take this engine past 7000( too poor to build another one if it blows up  ) and wasn't sure how much head I need for that relatively low rpm.

7000 rpm on a 540, you need a good head. No sense on just settling for something now. Get what you should get the first time out. That's how you save money. Many guys have just bought parts just to settle knowing they should have bought the other one, that's where the self ass kicking comes in. Buy the better ones now.

Brodix 2x's :D The afr's seem to be a good head but customer service is poor there. There is a post on another site about a set of SBC heads that had terrible castings and got no help from AFR. I've seen some fast 540's with brodix heads.

I like Dart heads but i agree with Hammertime about Brodix being on some fast cars.
