What starter to buy

What kind of starter would you buy for a 15.1 632ci.I have the small CVR starter that has been a great starter but it doen't have the power to turn this engine fast enough and start it.Just wondering what everyone else is using on the big cube motors.

starter

You'll get alot of opinions on this, but I'm sold on the GPE starters. Really good people to work with too. 8) JB

I'm not partical to them, just because i sell them and i donot sell on RJ, but the ProComp PC2106 is a 3HP with 4.1 gear reduction and i've sold over 30 of them and have never had one returned in 4 yrs.(i won't sell you one here on RJ), but you can get one from their website and it will cost you less than any other starter listed that i know of.

yes a lot of opinons, i like the #9400 powermaster from summit, i've gone thru the starter game and this works even beter than there more expensive 9400 that i sent back. if you dont already have the 16 volt there is another step again. one you have the 16 v you'll never go back. i have great luck with the 16-12 volt v-power from jegs, 565 ci 15.1

I would check into the CSR 24 Volt set up. Very nice, but is a little pricey. We have run th CSR Platinum series stuff with no problems.

I've been running the 2.4 HP CSR for almost 8 years now without any issues at all.

This was on a 505 with 11.5:1 static compression, plus the drag of a 10-71 blower on top. That starter on 12V provides plenty of cranking speed with a 168T flexplate to spin the motor at a speed that the mag will fire.

Tilton Super Starter, I've had 2 of these for years one for the trailer and one for the car. Right now I have it on a 582 with 14:1 compression.

Another tip for big inch motors, a start retard is a nice thing to use.

I have never had a problem with the Big Tilton super starter, I currently have one with 16 volts- cranks like a son of a gun on a 555.
