Starting out pretty basic. If you need more info let me know...

I have never had a prostreet car. All my cars have alwys been 1/8 & 1/4 mile runners.

I am attempting to prostreet my 70 Chevelle
Nice solid body,
Procharger BBC w/ 1000-1200 hp motor, yeah I know a little much, but Im not taking 1000 mile road trips.
Lenco 4 Speed
Fab 9inch w/ 3.50-3.90 gears, Have not got that far.
Coil over shocks with What size/lb Springs?
Anti roll or not????
Wheelie Bars, Yes or no?
Parachute yes or no?
Halon System ????
All Steel Car.

Tring to keep it simple

My questions are as follows:

I am backhalfing the car. Ladder bar or 4 link

Tire Size. 28, 32 or 33 inch tire?

How wide of tire?

Aluminum or Steel Tubs?

How bout horse power range??

Ride Height???????

Looking forward to questions and comments...

Thanks,

Keeping it simple???

Yeah right, that went out the window 1200Hp ago.

I'd go with the widest and tallest tire you can fit under that thing, somewhere in the range of a 32 x 16 slick in DOT trim.

Wheelie bars? no, chute , no, like hammertime said, they look cool but are not functional in a street car and that's definetly not keeping it simple.

coil overs> yes, ladder link> yes, antiroll >yes fireprevention system, most definetly YES aluminum tubs>yes 3.90 gears ought to do it and lower it till it drags the ground.

Rock on dude> How bout shooting us some pics of the simple life.

Hey guys thanks for all the imput. I will load a few pics as I get moving on the build. Like all projects you try to keep or maintain within a certain budget. I think I a few nice pieces on the shelf to start out with. I know I will have quite a few more parts to purchase or fabricate before the car is completed.

Here are a few more questions and some general info on engine , tranny & chassis combo.

I have a Big M Block & a Donovan Aluminum Block Sitting on the shelf.

I know the aluminum block is 125 lbs lighter, but for street driving I am kind a thinking the steel block may be the choice I am leaning to. I am Looking for imput here....

I also plan on using Steel Rods instead of Aluminum since I plan on street driving. Any opposition there????

I went with a 515 CID becuse of the power they tend to make for their size. And The RPM ramping is a lot of fun to play with on the street.

I thought about putting another 615 together, but I was afraid I would make way too much hp & torque and also use quite a bit more fuel than I wish for nominal street driving. Those top fuel burnouts at the stop sign make it a little rough in stop & Go Traffic.

Engine Combo 515 Cid
9.8 Deck Blocks - O -Ringed
4.530 Block Bore
4.00 Stroke Bryant Crank
6.385 Oliver Rods.
Je Pistons with Cool Coat 8.5:1
Comp Cam 114 Lobe Sep
AFR 357's Aluminum Heads set up for .800 lift with all the goodies & a little extra polish work
Jesel Pro Comp Rockers
Jesel Belt Drive
Titan Oil Pump & JJ 2 Piece Oil Pan
Manifold I have a Victor jr. & a Super Victor
Msd ignition 7al2
Carb is C&S Blow Thru with Monster Bowl Upgrade, Dual Seats etc etc
Magnafuel 625 Electric Fuel Pump
F-2 Procharger
I currently have 5 different options for boost 8,12,20,28 & 32
I plan on running 8 lbs of boost for the first few months, at least till I get the bugs out. Then I will Crank her up...

Tranny is a St1200 Lenco 4 Speed with Ram clutch set up for power range of engine combo and estimated car weight.

All items above this paragraph are already purchased and awaiting assembly. The items listed below are some of the other items that will need to be purchased as the build progresses.

I have not decided what type of center section to use, a Nodular or a Strange Aluminum 9 inch Center Section I can go either way, but the Gears am planning on running are either 3:70's or 3:90's w/ 35 Spline axles & Spool (Axels already purchased and installed in Fabricated 9inch rear end)

I will need to upgrade the braking system, Just have stock OEM brakes & booster that originally came in the car.

How much or how little of cage do you think I need to install?

Let me know of any questions or concerns you have regarding above.

Thanks for your undivided attention,

ashbros
