Until you can find the specs on the cam and who made it, if you want to run it try setting the valves around .022" hot. Most of the solid rollers out there run between .018"-.026" of lash. That would put you right about the middle and should be ok to run it. You can then play with the last a bit to see what it likes and where it runs best. Not the easiest way, but if you are unable to determine who made the cam and the specs on it, at least you'll be able to use it.

The 316BR4 number looks like a lobe number from a catalog. A few phone calls might get you the info you need........What about asking who you got it from?

Don't know if yours is .660 lift or not but if it is. Here is the cam that's in my malibu 377" and i can tell you it's too much cam for the 3250 lb car that i have, no low end torque, best 60' 1.49 with 543 gears and 5500 stall. However it worked great in a 1800 lb hardtail dragster when i put the motor in it.
Anyway here is the cam card and note the 301/307 lobe is at .020, so it's probably 310/316.

car is too slow

hey zipper when describing your engine and car(weight) you are describing my 67 nova exactly. im the guy having the overheating problem , which you and others responded to. i have the 377, 13-1, 660 (280) duration cam with 220 cc runner heads, powerglide, 561 gears and an 8 inch, 5500 stall converter. cant get it to go over 7500 rpms through traps and it should be up around 8000 coming through traps. also has aluminum rods and is built to run at 8000 rpms. this was the setup for my 355 that blew up and it screamed through traps at around 8000 rpms. this one isnt even close. converter wronG for this engine, or just worn out? valve springs weak? what are you thinking. PS it was way under carbed AND LEAN. NEW, BIGGER, RIGHER CSRB GOING ON TODAY. THANKS ART

I've got 5.43 gears, 5500 stall PTC converter with Brodix track 1 heads whitch is garbage for flowing, 14X32 GY's. But i run Alcohol with a toilet bowl. I keep a 7200 chip in for 1/8 mi. it runs 6.52@103/104. when i run the qtr. i pull the chip out and it runs 7800 in the traps 10.59 @ 125 mph
The cam is installed at 102*. I'm certain that it would run quicker with a shorter cam like 255 and 264 with about .630 lift.
I don't have any overheating issues, but alcohol runs cooler, in fact i almost never turn on the water pump or the fan. I've never had issues with overheating with the 400 blks even on gas, but i did have to run the water pump and the fan with gas. I have always ran a restrictor in the water neck/ thermostat housing.
