I`m building a 540 tall deck pump gas engine, I`m mainly looing for the right cam to use, solid roller, I`m thinking :
700 HP and streetable
afr 315 cnc heads
10.2 - 1 comp mahle coated w/ small ring package
I need the right cam, I want to run it too about 6800-7000
3100 # car
Glide w/4500 stalll
4.11/ 31 tire

lets get some cam specs from everyone, I only want to do it once,lol

Ive called a couple of cam makers, and I`m getting lots of different #s

So lets ask the raging masses .lol

anyones specs are welcome...

what cam?
 

what rpm range? maximum rpm? what mph approx?

what are going to do with everyone's guesstimation? average? ??

need more info? carb, injection, efi? gas? methanol?

OK convertor is a 4500, give or take a bit, I`m looking for a power range of 3500 - 6800 , running pump gas, 1050 - 1250 dominator, (old carb is a 1250) I have a # in mind for a cam, but everyone else I talk to says its wrong, So,I`ll see what everyone else says, I`m just going to go with a concencuss

It should make 700HP no problem.
I would suggest a solid roller cam "around" .713 lift intake and exhaust
and 265/275 @.050 Duration.I would like to see a little more intake runner volume than 315. AFR's are nice and it will be a street motor,but 540's (cid) seem to like 345. Some folks on this forum have more experience than I do and they may have better suggestions. You will make 700 HP .I had a 12.4 to 1 dart headed (345's) out of the box- 496 BBC. in my case the intake runners were a little big, but I had the heads they were new and they would work well if I decided to spray it.It made over 700 hp Similar cam specs

Thanx, yours seems a little closer than what I got from the cam compamies, lets see what others think.........

and the 315 head flows a bit better at .400 lift than the 335 head

i would suggest a lift that is compatible with your valvesprings :lol: what are they good for?

like your intake runner volume at 315cc, good choice..

also like the recommendation 265/275 degrees at .050", nice..not sure on sep, maybe 110 or 112 degrees..

If you have the luxury, try the 1050 dominator.Maybe even the HP. They seem to work well on the street and the track. I even had an older 2 circuit nas car style 1050 and it never gimped or had a hesitation or transition problem, it was on 2 bbc's. A 10 to 1 489 roller motor with steel heads, and the 496. 12 to 1 alum headed 700 Hp BBC dynoed and the air fuel ratio,s were good. And alot of street driving JMO

Comp 11-773-8 will work

Very streetable

x2 This cam is easy on the valve train.

I've never had a 4500 stall for the street. I'm sure the other guys could give some advice on that.
The 11-773-8 would be good, but you may also want to look at the 11-772-810. Depends on weather you want a little more street or strip.

Street. Needs good intake and exhaust,

Either way It's gonna be a nice motor in a street car!!
