Rotating assemblies

Would like input about Ohio Crankshaft rotating assemblies. Good, not so good or who do you recomend?

It seems to be hit or miss with them from what I have seen. You get what you pay for.

Give Callies Performance a call. Ask for Brook Piper or Duane Boes. The product line ranges from excellent light weight assemblies to their CompStar line, which is better than most imports.

For what it's worth, my nephew put one of Ohio's 434" sbc short blocks in his '37 Chev last year. 0 problems and he was pretty impressed with their customer service.

Again, for what it's worth.

I bought a unassembled 540 shortblock from Ohio crankshaft and have run it for 2 years with no problems.I will buy another one from there when the time comes.

crank

Beast, what you are building has a lot to do with your needs, If for example you are building a mild street or bracket engine, you may be fine but I've read posts on other web sites about the Ohio cranks in a blown alcohol applications and the replies were not good.
If your looking to make big power call Bryant they are the best in the crankshaft business.
Remember the old phrase; You get what you pay for!

For a low power application they may work ok,we have seen a fair amount of cracked ones and two broken ones in the last year. The dragon slayer is a far better bet.Bill

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm rebuilding my 477 that spun a bearing, due to the oil pickup screen broke off the pickup tube.

I bought an unassembled 540 from them..everything checked spot on when I was assembling it...I have since heard bad things.I have had no problems so far knock on wood...but have only ran it a couple of times.
