cam for 632 big duke
Just got my cam specs, 288in 294ex @.50 833in 845ex with a 114 lobe separation with big duke 18deg heads and 13.5-1 compression and two dominators will this cam make good power. Thanks

John Kyle @ apd is a big reason you see these bigger cubic inch 11/12/14/18 degree motors running on alky. He is a very smart guy that trys a lot of things on the dyno. If you guys are in the cam market he has his own custom grinds he would sell. If not and you'd like some input he is always a helpfull guy. |

Well the cam is set up for a blower application due to 114 lobe seperation, but should work good with the compression ratio you are working with. Pending gas or alky carb selection willbe a big issue. You will want to avoid creating static pressure within the motor to maximize hp & Torque. And you don't what to choke the engine with to small of a carb. Looks like you are going to need a lot of air and fuel por that bad boy.
If you go alky I suggest at a minimum a mechanical fuel injection system with a bird catcher |

When you get the specs of it let us know, I know what cams APD used when he switched them around in the big duke motors. What I find amazing that APD does is this, a buddy has a 582 conv headed motor they went to a lowere lift cam something like 770/740 and knocked some compression out 13:1 ands till made 1086 on the dyno. A lot of HP was made in the cam choice for that motor. Its all about the motor shop finding the right thing on the dyno then putting it to the test on the track. Anymore to many companies dont want to do this and find the extra little things that make good HP. Just my 2 cents :lol: |
