I saw it when they debuted it at Bandimere. Pretty cool piece. I thiught it was kinda strange that they turned off the score boards when Big Daddy and Judy Lilly made their passes. Too bad they won't be able to be titled/registered.

The local Dodge dealer, here in winnsburo,La. had one a couple months ago on display, but he wanted $56,000.00 for it, it had all the whistles and bells, but i've seen them in ads for as little as $49,000.00. I guess the best thing about the 2008, is the larger Hemi engine which as i understand will be replaced with a smaller version for 2009. This in it's self make the 2008 a more collectable car. If i were 25 yrs. younger, i would look at buying one and wrapping it up for a few yrs. because for sure you can make money on it down the road.

That wasn't the same type of car. The dealer had a "production" Challenger. The SS Challenger package cars have not been displayed by anyone except Mopar. They are incomplete, need finishing and definitely not street legal. Think along the lines of the original '68 Hemi Cudas & Darts.

I hope the race cars are approved and become available because I have heard several rumors that there are some problems getting them out. :(

I work at a Dodge dealership, they are stripped down, no radio, no heater just a basic drag car. The wheelbase has been stretched about an inch to make up for the bigger tires. They are not a street legal car, no VIN just a production number. They weigh a 1000 lbs less than the production car, lift off hood, Viper style seats, polycarbonate windows and a bunch of other goodies. You can get them with a 5.7 Hemi, 6.1 Hemi or a 5.9 MaxWedge motor. They will be legal to run in NHRA Stock, Superstock and Comp eliminator classes. Starting price is estimated to be around $33K and up. If I could only convince the wife this is a neccessity but I really dont see that happening!

Will this car be available to the general bracket racer to purchase and if so,when?

mopar1968 10-14-2008 06:40 PM

This challenger is a ''ALL OUT RACE CAR'' to race in super stock, it won't be out to the general public untill late 2009, dealership employee price will be between $30,000-$35,000 depending on which engine is ordered. I work at a dealership and have my eye on this car's. These cars has full roll cage, all racing bell's and whistle's.
