KILLER COMPLETE HILBORN ALCOHOL INJECTION SYS
$2,200.00
KILLER complete Hilborn IR Injection System-2.4 Throttle Bores (about 4600 cfm) for Rectangle Port BBC aftermarket or OEM HP Heads.
Many racers have the misconception that mechanical injection systems are complicated and unpredictable. That is not my experience! I have extensive bracket racing experience with this particular system. Once the fuel curve and idle mixture is established for any particular engine combination, it is hands off with only routine maintenance and filter checks. Much simpler than a carb, IR injection produces considerably more torque with a significant increase in power. These are constant feed mechanical systems for wide open throttle applications (like drag racing) metering fuel back to the tank and are controlled mainly by two pressure relief valves: the main bypass and the secondary bypass valves. In some cases a high speed lean out is used. One pill or jet controls the amount of fuel going back to the tank. The engine sees what is left over.
The Hilborn IR (individual runner) Injector is not affected by the distribution pulses inherent with a plenum intake, nor does it depend on engine vacuum, floats, squirters, and metering circuits. IR injection allows the engine to make more bottom end torque, have increased throttle response and, most importantly, allows the engine to accelerate faster. Each cylinder is isolated from the others. Air flow velocity even at idle is tremendous. Get your face too close to a stack with the engine running and sucking face takes on a whole new meaning! And you would think after the first time I would know better.
Changing to this IR system will result in quicker reaction times, quicker 60 ft, and 3-5 TENTHS quicker ETs! You can use less rpm against the brake, shift at lower rpm, and accelerate faster! Consistency? When not lifting in the traps in tight rounds, I have repeatedly run dead on the dial on many occasions. That kind of consistency places going rounds squarely on the shoulders of the driver and the rest of the car doing its job.
I did not run a cooling system, a priming pump, or change my oil often. I REPEAT; my injection metering did NOT result in my oil being diluted with alcohol! That is the result of un-necessarily running the engine too rich! Engine oil temps virtually never got over 180 degrees and rarely did I ever prime the engine after the initial warm up. No Joke!
This system has everything you need including the manual: Complete injector manifold with stacks, the big Hilborn PG150A pump, Gilmer drive system, pressure relief valves, lines, etc. Shafts are tight. System has been flowed and the pump serviced by Hilborn prior to storage. Has been kept clean and lubricated. Buy this stuff new and it will set you back about 4 grand. $2200 might just take it!
It’s super cool, exotic, and it works! Highly desirable unit for streetable EFI conversion!
