Building a race car from scratch can be pretty expensive. But trying to finish someone elses can be even more expensive. Brian purchased a half way finished Camaro Super Stocker back in late 2003. The chassis was backhalved and the initial wiring had been completed. But the interior and body still needed some extensive work. Over the course of some 4 years We were able to finish the Camaro to its present state. We ran across several issues that were not expected and cost extra money to make right.
Well it took a lot of time and help from some friends but we finally were able to complete the car and bring it out for the 2007 season. It took about half the season to iron out the new car blues and get the car running the way he liked. I think that shows in the the results over the last 3 months of the 2007 season. The car ended up paying for itself in half a season! The car has run a best et of 9.82 @ 138 mph with a 408 SBC running on alcohol.
I am sure there are a lot of you out there that have thought the same thing, "It will be a lot cheaper to buy a some what finished car instead of starting from scratch". How did your stories end up?
