Hendeson Racing Family Team. Several racing sucess, pro class, sportsman, and trophy. I am into crew position as my medical issues.Actually I am ready but doctor demands no use on my driving.8 (
Josh competetive very well using my camaro until his monzs assembled.Mandy win trophy 1st again. Donald H, begin with my street car won 3 1st place positions. He is ready to move up. Charlie H subbed in my camaro doing well help but short cash or trophys.
KCIR races win two days end saturday then 1st sunday using the malibu station this fall.
Two trips to Manhattan, Josh, Monza 2nd place twice pacing well. Steve H win 1st pro, Dave D win 3rd.
This season was a struggle with two cars not prepared for racing. The Camaro engine was installed in the monza testing converter and transmissions. Some struggles between the converter and glide. We sorted out the issue, began assembly 388 ci with some struggles.Re-checked the piston/bores were not correct, we hand honed to .05 allowing the right piston, correct hand set up quickly reassembled and installed it by saturday.a change converter. The engine was the trick, with little time tuning, the monza was back in the groove.6.40's -6.30's.
My camaro reassembed,at usual set up did well at first races, but the glide broke the pump stator. Reassembled with fresh ol transmission, ran back 6.80's early season, traction had some struggles with used tires. The rain and humids gave rough dial consistencies, making us all tough competition.
The Pro season was tough with few dominating each week,Gary Clark and I back and forth all year= 2 wins each until he became deadly winning.Points finally Gary pulls ahead without only Josh getting close.Eddie R,Damon H, Jody W, and Charlie H.Ben Burk all made tight points race. My attempt to slow down Gary, Eddie and others shut me down to end up 7th points. All in good competition between friends and co racers.
Mandy started trophy class with the malibu tuned down early until she was better at the tree and finishing. I concentration on keeping her concentration and remaining calm.LOL now that was a chore. As nerves smoothed out she became winning races becoming competitive.Mandy big dog # 1 Trophy win class.
Sportsman tough and competitive. Bill King, Stan Holder and Zach Benitiz fought a close class.Bill finally winning out.
Super pro competitors were tight class also, Steve Beasley win at last.Eric Mann and Ed Culberston within few points. CONGRATS ALL !!
We have visited KCIR drag strip this fall in Kanas City,Mo- just 1 hr 15 minute pull from our homes. The traction was the best, the track very smooth and ran professionally. We entered the SUNOCO fall races.
Josh and the monza ran the best of 10.11 @132 mph, but not without mishaps. His distributor was coming apart, putting metal shavings in the oil, by the time he realized this it was too late. The engine let go at 7,000 rpm. The engine is now trashed; saved the heads, intake and a few lifters.
I ran 10.42 in the camaro, pulling the wheels up and getting 1.45 60' ft times.Still running the 1/8 mile gears she topped out at 122mph @ 8,000 rpm. I decided Josh had a better chance of winning $ and let him use my engine back in the monza. The next race was windy with a side wind of 10- 15 mph. Josh was chasing down a car when the wind caught up under his fender, lifted the hood just enough it was ripped off by the the 125 mph air coming at him.
Several other cars had issues that day, we helped Lee Short load up his Nova after tossing a driveshaft, loop and yoke at the finish line.Another racer blew a transmission, another an engine.
We decided our luck was not going well, it was time to put them up for the winter.
Josh Henderson is 2008 Pro Class Champion after finishing 2nd last year.It was a close pts race with several rainouts and struggles.Josh finished off the closest competitors in style by winning the final points race. The Pro Class is the most competitive class @ US 36 Raceway Drag Strip.Josh put together the 76 monza himself with a 383ci, glide and 5:13 gears. 6.40's@ 107 mph 1/8 mile
I struggled with the car setup most of the season but finished 5th overall (again) My record has been finishing the the top 5 nearly every year. The old camaro hangs in there with a 355, glide and 5.56 gears.I traded my less than year old Hoosers for a used pair of MT's with a stiffer sidewall and harder compound.Along with finding a bad coil wire, that woke up the old girl.6.80's@98mph 1/8 mile.
When the season ends at the Osborn, Mo track we like to travel to other tracks to do battle in the ET bracket races. We have fun being competitive with our little operation.
