Blew it up

View Entire Blog

I went racing last weekend, and well, to cut to the chase, the motor broke. It broke badly too. Appearantly I didnt have enough valve to piston clearance, and as my aluminum rods aged and stretched a little, one of them decided to get much too friendly with an exhuast valve. The head of the valve came off, knocked a big hole in the top of the piston, banged the cylinder all up, and worst of all, knocked a hole in my highly worked iron head. After taking several days to assess the damage, and come up with a preliminary sheet of what it's gonna cost to fix it, I have realized there is no way in hell I can do it. I dont have enough parts laying around to toss something together for next year either, and doubt I can afford to put something together. It really looks like, once again, I'm going to have to miss a year of racing. It really sucks. My first year back in Top, I narrowly missed a top 5 finish, and now it really looks like I wont be able to try again next year.

We had to fall back to a pretty tame 351W when our stroker stuff came apart...it was alot slower but we still did OK at the end of the day.
Ya go out and put down a couple of wins and that new motor is back together before ya know it.
