Gateway Classic Cars of St. Louis is proud to offer a very fun 1970 VW Beetle convertible. The VW Beetle, referred to as the people's car, was in productions since the 1950s up until the early 2000s. This car is one of the few vehicles that nearly anyone can identify by the silhouette alone. The iconic dome shape provides good interior space for a small car. These cars were inexpensive, easy to drive, and very simple to maintain. This makes them a great choice for an entry level classic car today. This particular example sports a 1,641cc engine with a Weber progressive carburetor, 009 distributor, and electronic ignition. This nicely upgraded engine provides a bit more oomph compared to the original engine. Power is delivered through a 4 speed manual transaction which shifts effortlessly and smoothly. The body is finished in bright red, with some custom pin striping. The car sits on wheels with bright chrome hubcaps for a classic look. Unique to this Beetle is the newer front beam from a Karmann Ghia which adds front brakes to the front for improved ride and performance. Completing the exterior are aluminum running boards and a new Stayfast canvas top. The interior is in great condition and in this case sports upgraded seats. German car nuts might recognize the seats as coming from an e30 BMW. Overall this is a nice clean Beetle with some tasteful upgrades that will help you stand out in a crowd.
