For Sale: 64 Plymouth Savoy
I have owned this car for about 10 years and bought it with the intentions of making it a clone max wedge car.
Motor is 526 Big Block Pump Gas
The engine is a 69 440 block with a Billet 4.375 stroke crankshaft. This is a used crank from a Blown Alcohol engine. (It still has the center counter weights on). The connecting rods are LY that have been Shot Peened, polished, bushed, re-sized, ARP Bolts install. The reason for this is that is the only way to retain the shock internal oil pump pick up. Any aftermarket rod will not clear with this stroke and a standard journal dimension.
The Pistons are J/E 4.375 Bore. These pistons are dished and the ring lands are lowered and I gapped the rings for Nitrous Oxide use. I have not had a unit on this engine but it is ready for up to 350 shot.
The Camshaft is a Lunati Flat Tappet Mechanical grind, .518 lift on the intake and .540 lift on the exhaust. The duration at .050 is 249 int and 261 exh. 306 and 316 advertised. This is a real streetable cam that will not kill valve springs. There are 440 source roller rockers and Smith Brothers push rods.
The Cylinder Heads are 906 castings that have been totally rebuilt with new guides, springs, valves, and locks. There is not any porting done to these heads.
The intake is an Edelbrock Torker. I used this intake to keep the carburetor low enough to make sure that a nitrous plate would fit. The Carburetor is a Holly HP 1000 – 4150 style.
As you can see if you wanted to make this a real 10 second car you would not have to do too much. I did not want to install a roll bar in this car so I did not build it for that.
The Front End bushings and ball joints have been changed and Willwood Brakes installed. Sub frame connectors were put in when I re-located the leaf springs. I have mini tubbed 18 cars to date and they go straight and work well.
The Transmission is a PRO TRANS, it has an aluminum drum, and fully rollerized internals, ridged bands, trans brake, etc. I have installed a 10” converter with anti-ballooning plate. It stalls at about 3500 and works well on the street.
The Rear End is a Dana 60 with 4:10 gears, a spool and 35 spline Moser axles with green bearings.
The Wheels are A100 15” X 4” in the front and the rear were A100’s that were widened to 10” at Pico Tire and Wheel in North Hollywood.
(4) Four new tires and the rears are Micky Thompson ET Street Radials 315 60 and the front are Mickey Thompson 28 X 7.5 radials.
This car is driven in 90 degree temps and runs fine. I have driven about 500 miles since it has had this engine and trans combo.
