1967 GMC Shortbed
This 1967 GMC short bed pick up is the result of a complete frame off rotisserie restoration with just under 400 test miles on the entire project since it was completed. It is powered by a rip roaring 496 CI motor that is built to run on pump gas, but puts serious power down on the street. Despite the performance of the engine, this truck remains an awesome cruiser both on the highway and around town, and it's hard to deny its sharp looks.
At start of the restoration, the truck was stripped down to bare metal and received brand new body work from front to rear. All parts were epoxy primed and then the body panels were reassembled to check for proper fitment of the gaps and the body lines. Finally, the body was sanded from front to rear to achieve the straight metal that it has today. A coat of basecoat/clear coat paint was applied, wet sanded and then buffed to mirror-like shine. All trim and chrome on the truck in new from front to rear and the bed has been finished in gorgeous oak. The interior features custom leather seats with cloth inserts, custom gauges and a custom steering wheel. All of the wiring come from a brand new Painless wiring set up, complete with a modern fuse box.
The 496 engine is a great cruiser with explosive power on tap. The bottom end is a race-prepped short block with very rare L88 heads on the top end. The motor was professionally assembled by a machine shop and uses a Comp Street cam. Providing the air and fuel mix is a Holley 1000 CFM carb custom built by Pro Systems. These are some the best tuned Holleys in the business and are very responsive. The Holley sits on a Team G aluminum intake, and providing a healthy spark is an MSD distributor and coil set up. Exhaust flows through a set of Cooks headers and the exhaust system is a 3" mandrel dual system. The motor puts out an easy 500 HP to the wheels and hauls cookies! This truck is no slouch. Keeping the motor cool is a trick electric water pump and an oversized aluminum radiator with dual electric fans. The transmission is a built Turbo 400 with a Transmission Specialties stahl converter and the rear end is a built posi unit.
For the vintage pick up truck enthusiast looking for a bit of performance as well as a high quality restoration, this short bed GMC will make it happen.
