For Sale: 1968 Ford Country Sedan
67 GT 390 Engine/C6 trans
It has been repainted within the last couple of years (it was done before I owned it) and the body is very straight with no rust.
The interior is all original, but it will need the front seat re-upholstered and the bottom of the back seat re-done. It will also need new carpet, and that's about it. Headliner, and door panels are in good shape and the dash has 1 crack in the pad. This is also a factory A/C car.
The engine is a LEGIT GT 390 engine from a 1967 Fairlane. It is the 10.5:1 compression version. The engine has been completely rebuilt, but it was in such good shape that the crank and pistons remain stock.
The crank was inspected and polished by a machine shop but left STD size. The cylinders were clean-up honed but also remain the stock bore.
The Camshaft, lifters and pushrods were replaced to ensure reliability and performance. The cam is slightly more aggressive than the stock grind. Rocker arms are stock, but the rocker shafts have been replaced. The heads have been completely re-done with new (stiffer) valvesprings to match the cam and a 3 angle valve job.
The engine has an Edelbrock Performer 390 intake manifold and Carter 650 CFM carburetor. I have the original GT "S-code" intake manifold as well (it's in storage).
The distributor has been upgraded to a HEI-style electronic unit to enhance reliability.
A performance Aluminum radiator was also installed and works great. The car runs at a constant 200 degrees regardless of whether it's 30 degrees or 100 degrees outside.
The stock FMX transmission has been replaced with a much more reliable (and stronger) C6
Stock GT manifolds from the Fairlane donor car dump into the original (slightly modified) Fairlane H-pipe and Thrush Chambered mufflers
There's approx 1000 miles on the engine since the rebuild. I've driven it in desert and mountain climates,in summer and winter temps, high and low altitude, and it always runs great.
I built this car to be a reliable daily driver that also packs some performance. The original engine and trans were not with the car when I got it, but it IS an original 390/FMX car.
Honestly, the current engine is much more valuable and desirable than the stock one.
