Early '40 Ford 221 flathead V8. Disassembled.
Most parts included, plus some duplicates & new pieces.
Block: Stamped 18 5289732 - early '40 (or late '39) car?
Note the factory re-manufactured tag - unusual to find this in any condition. This one is good. "Ford Authorized Co Mo Co Boston A Reconditioned Cylinder Assembly Motor No. 53885"
Crank turns freely. Cylinders have surface corrosion but mostly are greasy/dusty
Valves: 16 new old stock valves - most in original boxes.
PLUS NOS valve guides in Ford box. (Original valves and springs included.)
Pistons: 7 of 8 show Ford script stamping VGC - 8th with no stamping.
Heads: 2 sets 59AB and A - both sets with Ford script
Intake manifolds (2) - both cast iron, one with major chip.
Oil pan: Very good condition; inside needs bead blasting
Shifter: original to engine; forks are good, shifts easily with no slop
Transmission: gears OK; note significant chips in bell housing - non stress points.
No carburetor or air cleaner.
All from a running car taken out and stripped 10 years ago; stored on second floor of a dry, heated garage before I got it for a roadster, now sold.
