For sale, now, is my rear engine dragster. Words cannot express how difficult this is for me because we built this dragster to last during my life of drag racing. However, things do change in life, I now have a family, own a business and the time to race is now delayed until my children get older and this dragster is simply too good to not be out racing.
No expense was spared with this dragster. Every inch of this dragster was built for safety, longevity, efficiency and enjoyment. This isn’t the type of dragster that you have to wrench hour’s pre/during/post racing, spending mega cash for exotic parts or components, you simply show up and race.
A little history about this dragster; it’s life started back in 2001 as a 235” wheel base straight liner. Owned and operated by a Ford dealership, a 600 CID Ford engine plant set the stages for running low ET’s at high mile per hour. Having the resources, Ford spent thousands of dollars making this dragster simply top notch. Little things like titanium tow hooks, custom fab tool trays, custom cockpit cover, billet this and polished that. However this dealership ran out of funds before getting this dragster into competition. That’s when we purchased it. It was 2002 when we hit the strip with this dragster, running solid 170mph traps at ET’s of 7.90. We raced this configuration for more than 6 years, running that 600 CID Ford torque monster. We usually were always running down our opponent giving us the advantage. With this car we usually ended the year in points either 3rd or 2nd, we had a grand time!
However, as things advanced in racing and our need for speed grew, we decided to give the dragster a complete overhaul and switch gears. Knowing that it is only a matter of time that our 1,500 plus pass 600 CID Ford wasn’t going to last forever, we decided to run a Chevy 565 CID built by Reher Morrison. With the new power plant we had to make improvements in the chassis as well. We took the dragster back to its master, Victory Races Cars and put in motion of getting the dragster extended to 260” wheel base (for extra high speed stability) and updated the cage for Advance ET certification in addition added a few goodies since the chassis would be apart. In 2007 our new transformation was complete and we spent countless hours machining custom brackets, mounts, wiring and painting simply to make this our ultimate racing machine. Mission accomplished, first pass down the track back in 2007 we ran 7.90 at 185mph. Wow, this thing moves and the best part about this is that we are running almost a 4sec delay in our timer and running through the traps at 7,100 rpm which is very low.
The dragster at this new beginning back in 2007, without the right tune, wrong converter and shift points ran 196mph at 7.00sec. That’s impressive for any machine running that close to the 200 mph zone. This all is coming from a combination running only gasoline, four barrel carb, stock oil filter (no dry sump), adjust valves every 30 runs, simply jump in and go! Seriously, you can’t get as simple as the combination we are running with that kind of performance. I’m sure this car could hit over 200 mph without much tuning and compare that to most blown, injected, alcohol dragsters! If need be, run nitrous and get yourself ready to run Top Dragster.
Now the story comes to an end. Since the end of the 2008 season, we had to stop racing. Like I mention before, I had started growing my family and took the ultimate path of starting my own business. Because of all this, racing simply couldn’t continue. Thinking that ultimately I’d have more time to race again, I’m now under the realization that I don’t have the time and we need to sell this dragster. With less than 40 passes on this new chassis and motor configuration, this dragster is perfect for anyone or family that wants to get into drag racing or for that matter, advancing your current ride to that next level of performance.
I want this dragster to have the right home, it desires to have one and it will a great addition to your family. I’ve spent many years driving this dragster and it has given me memories that I will never forget and will pass along to my family with hopes of one day picking the hobby back up. It drives straight as an arrow. I’ve battled the desert winds for years without a single problem. The dragster launches light and cuts great lights, just let her go and it will reward you with a top end charge that will leave the stands cheering you on.
If you are a person who is brand new to racing and wants to get involved, this dragster is for you. Simply adjust your throttle stop and run 9.90 all day long. Or if you’re feeling brave, not stop and running out the back door to get yourself in the 6 second zone. Just imaging the memories that will be formed! Now let’s say you have been racing for years and want to step it up a little bit, this seriously is the perfect buy! You are getting a $90K performance at almost a third of the price not to mention the hassle free this dragster will give you. You simply cannot go wrong.
