Most racers put 125 to 150 passes on similar 572" to 604" engines combos. I freshend sooner but not nessary. GRP recommends 150 passed on rods. Really depends on how you race it. Above Added: Sat May 28, 2016, 8:47 am EST


MOPAR 588” B1 Engine

The 588” has 2 passes since I freshened it. I typically put around 65-75 passes between rebuilds. It’s a very reliable engine with very low maintenance. I just had Coan freshen the convertor. Sold my Charger and bought an Avenger with a Sonny Hemi. That's the reason for selling.

This 588” will make 1045HP and run 8.05’s at 166 MPH in a 2640lb chassis car. Has been as quick as 7.52 with a 150HP NOS fogger. On motor it has around 1080 HP.

Currently two passes on motor. This was my spare engine and only used it once at the end of 2015. Lots of new parts because I would swap oiling system and ignition system with my 620" B1. All these parts were spares.

Here are the specs on my 588” B1 motor:

Mopar Mega block 4.5” bore standard cam with motor mounts still on block
Callies 4.615” stroke crank std./std.
GRP BB-5000 aluminum rods (2 passes)
All engine bearings have 2 passes
Gas Port pistons
Bullet Roller Cam
New Milodon 31151 Chassis dual sump oil pan with removable windage tray
New Milodon High Volume dual line oil pump system with remote oil filter option
Spare used Charlies Dry sump oil pan
B1/MC heads ported with Bullet 1.625” springs(2 passes) flow 440 cfm @ 800” lift. Have flow sheets available.
Spray Bar oiling
Comp offset roller lifters (2 passes)
Sheet metal valve covers with o-rings (no need for gaskets)
Cooling ports drilled in heads between center cylinders
2.40” Titanium intake valves with a few spares
1.88” Stainless steel exhaust with a few spares
Titanium 10 degree Retainers
Flatout copper head gaskets (block o-ringed)
T&D Individual rockers 1.7 ratio or some spare 1.8 ratio rockers (these are the good ones $2100)
Manley pushrods
Milodon Bronze distributor gear
Jessel Belt Drive with spare new belt
MSD front mount distributor with spare new belt
New Firecore 50 spark plug wires
New MSD Crank trigger
New Aerospace front pulley assembly
1 new valley pan
1 used valley pan with vacuum bung welded in.
B1 ported intake with spacers with holes tapped for NOS 90 degree nozzles
Manley pushrods
Coan 10” convertor setup for this engine and a Power Glide (fresh 0 passes)
JW flexplate with crank spacer and new crank bolts
Extra set of used 4.53” bore pistons
Extra set of used GRP rods
Extra Crane Roller Cam
Extra spare parts, selling all my B-1 parts.
