I'm selling our recently restored/renovated 241"wb 4-link rear engine pump gas BBC powered dragster. It was built new by Dennis Hurst Race Cars. Its never been wreaked. I bought the rolling chassis from the original owner 19 mths ago as a project for me and my teen daughter to do together and for her to drive. She didn't live up to her end of the bargain so I'm selling it.
It runs 8.50 @ 154 mph in the quarter, 5.30 at 128 mph in the eighth. 60' is 1.17 Hooks hard and goes straight. It has an ultra smooth ride compared to a hardtail. The car is very consistent. I have it shifting at 5800 rpm. Car is currently setup for NO BOX but comes with a Mega 450 box.
The frame shoulder width is 21" and should fit someone up to 6' 2" and 220 Lbs. The pedals are easily adjustable. It has the Strange Eng. aluminum rear housing, 40 spline gun drilled axles, brakes, and 3rd member w/3.89 gears. The chassis has had a lot of updates/improvements since new. It has a new IHRA 7.50 sportsman certification sticker, done Feb. 2016, and an expired NHRA 7.50 sportsman sticker. With a little more work it will 6.0 certify. Car weighs 1690 with wing(no driver).
We took it totally apart, stripped the frame down to bare metal, re-painted the frame, threw away the old wiring harness and plumbing, re-wired it with the a K&R Performance super duty complete wiring kit, re-plumbed it with all new AN hoses and fittings, rebuilt the Strange Engineering brake calipers and master cylinder, new Simpson belts(3/16), built and installed a new dash and gauges, new Hoosier front tires, Goodyear 17x33-15 slicks, all wheels are 2 piece Weld wheels, Strange double adjustable shocks, new 16v battery, new 16v alternator, new Don Davis radiator/fan, BG 280 fuel pump, Shogun water pump, Evans waterless coolant, rpm activated air shifter, MSD 7-al2 w/3-step and rpm switch, Borla up sweep muffled headers, etc etc etc.
The 572" BBC engine, from oil pan to carb, from balancer to flywheel, is BRAND NEW, nothing is used. It was professionally built Bill Mitchell Products and is a Hardcore 572" pump gas(10.9 to 1) BBC tall deck, has Crane solid lifter cam .614"lift. I have the dyno info and build/blueprint paperwork. As of this posting the engine has only 6 dyno pulls and 30 runs at the local drag strip. Same goes for the 1.76 shorty pg trans w/trans brake and converter, with sfi shield and bellhousing. Engine makes 731 hp at 5700 rpm and 724 ft/Lbs of torque at 4200 rpm on 91 octane unleaded. The block is a World Products Merlin III steel tall deck 4.500" bore. Heads are aluminum Merlin III 350cc intakes, 119cc combustion cambers, Scorpion 1.8 roller rocker arms, Manley ss valves(2.30"- 1.88"), Eagle 4340 forged internally balanced 4.500" in. stroke crank, Manley pistons, Scat 4340 forged h-beam steel 6.7" rods, Merlin X intake, AED 1050 Holley Dominator carb. Moroso oil pan, MSD distributor, SFI balancer and flexplate, diaper, etc etc etc.
This is a low maintenance combination that will win money for years and years with little or no maintenance.
