1968 Chevy Camaro 396/375, 4 speed
Head turner! Needs nothing for the upcoming cruise and car show season. Largely restored to original type specs about 5 years ago where it was largely admired and seldom driven. The odometer reading of 02,214.20 represents the mileage since restoration. Restoration included a period correct block (396 but I believe is the 402) and rebuilding the engine to largely the original specs. Paint is an eye catching green with white stripes and a 1969 cowl type hood. Paint quality I'd give a B; daily driver type. That said, it stops people in their tracks to give a thumbs up. Honestly did not think a green paint job would have that effect but it has in my experience on this one. Interior was redone to original type condition. Buddy sold it to me to go find another car for the fun of it. I wanted a period type car to match a custom and award winning G-Machine I also own with the intention to drive it for a summer. Tempted to keep it but moving and space in the new location is not what I had in my prior residence.
Engine/transmission: Period correct (396/402) block with hard to find original heads. Engine rebuilt to original specs with addition of Comp Cams camshaft providing a bit more juice than solid lifter (and better for today's gas; runs great on premium unleaded). Headers, dual exhaust and I added a new Holley carb. Told the rear is 3.73 Chevy 12 bolt. 4 speed manual. New battery and fan.
Suspension:Original type suspension. I added power front disc brakes and power steering.
Wheels: Added period Cragar S/S (just like I had back in the day) and radial tires.
Paint: As previously stated, green body with white stripes, including 1969 type cowl hood and rear spoiler (no front spoiler). Nice daily driver type quality in my view.
Interior: I inherited largely a period correct restoration of the interior. Have added a Pioneer head unit with 4 Kenwood speakers. Also added center console and tic-toc tach.
This has been a reliable daily driver that definately takes you back to 1968. If you are looking for a great ride that has the rumble, look and stance that you would have seen then, and in my view, needs nothing, this is your motorvation. That's why I bought it and have not been disappointed. Also, even though I purchased this from a friend, I had a local professional specializing in '60's muscle car restorations go through it (he added the power brakes/steering and new carb). Can make him available as well to discuss questions but his view is the car needs nothing either. Would love to keep it. Just need more time and space.
