I began restoring this car approximately 10 years ago after an extensive search for an exceptional body. This is it. After approximately 2 years, the restoration was complete (including paint removal to the metal) and nothing in the process was compromised. If you will take note, the bumpers, and period correct Keystone Klassic wheels (with knock off's), were resurfaced in "Black" Chrome because I wanted that particular look for the car. This type of chrome is much more expensive than normal re-chroming and is not simply "painted" black as is seen in so many other restos. In my opinion, this is MUCH better looking. The remainder of the trim parts were resurfaced "powder coated" including the engine valve covers, air cleaner, intake manifold, Etc. I will try to post additional pictures of the engine if time permits.
This Riviera is equipped with the original (465 WILDCAT) 425 CID Nailhead and TH 400 automatic transmission. This is a very low optioned Riviera which makes it quite rare considering that these were top of the line luxury cruisers. In addition to the standard PS / PB and automatic transmission, this Riviera is equipped with a power antenna and "speed minder" alarm (both function as expected).
This Riviera runs / drives and handles great. You would never know that it is now 52 years old and I have driven it on many 200 mile plus trips without hesitation.
Of all the car shows that I have attended, I have only seen a handful of these unique cars. This includes the recent "Muscle Car reunion" at Beech-Bend. If you are looking for something other than your cookie cutter Chevelle, Camaro, Mustang, etc., of which there seem to be thousands of, this car is for you.
********** THIS RIVIERA IS NOT PERFECT AND I DO NOT TRAILER IT********
It is driven EVERYWHERE. With that being said, there are some imperfections since the total restoration took place. There are some small areas of paint blistering on the fender and hood area. NO, this is not rust. It was caused because of a change I took on an experimental PPG primer that was used at the time of restoration. Although these small areas are hard to notice without being pointed out, the proper way to repair these areas would be to re-paint them. The black that is on the car is a two stage US black with no tint / metal-flake, therefore repainting these small areas (if desired) would be an easy and relatively inexpensive process.
***************** WHY AM I SELLING THIS RIVIERA ???????????????????????
Although I have loved this car for over a decade, I recently found and purchased my "dream car" and I need to make space in my garage. This Riviera has ALWAYS been garage kept and will continue to be so until it is sold to the proud new owner. I would also hope that the new owner would keep in touch with me in the future, as this car has a piece of my heart and soul in it.
I am available by telephone for questions / concerns relative to the Riviera however, please do not call unless you are a serious buyer, have CASH in hand and are ready to buy. Meaning you don't have to get permission from your mommy, daddy, or wife / girlfriend. In other words, if you are a big boy and want a big boy toy, please call for an appointment.
I DO NOT need help selling.
